These writings are intended primarily for elderly individuals who already possess a rubber fetish, though younger Rubberists may find it useful. If you do not share this orientation, you will likely find these documents confusing, irrelevant, or uninteresting. You are not the intended audience, and your time may be better spent elsewhere.
Casual Rubber - An acquired, more common variant of rubber fetish; best understood as an erotic accessory rather than an orientation. Typically implies use of latex garments as occasional adjunct to conventional sex. It is purely erotic.
Deep Rubber - A sexual orientation, like hetero- or homosexuality. Either you have it, or you don't. It manifests at an early age and is rare. The deep rubber fetish is part of one's facticity—the raw material of existence.
Enchantment (Moore) - A state of wonder, joy, and deep engagement with rubber fetish that transcends mere sexual attraction. One of the four core attitudes in Latexistentialism, inspired by Thomas Moore's (modern) concept of finding magic and meaning in everyday experience.
Flow state (Csikszentmihalyi) - A mental state of complete concentration, loss of self-consciousness, timelessness, and intrinsic motivation. Flow's characteristics perfectly describe the RubberSpace experience during deep RubberNauting sessions.
Gomu Yoku - The art of immersive mindfulness in latex. Derived from the Japanese practice of 'forest bathing' (shinrin-yoku), it is the disciplined, mindful engagement that makes the Zen of Rubber attitude tangible. The practice of sensory perception as a sort of meditation.
Heavy Rubber - A thickness-focused, BDSM-adjacent variant prevalent in homosexual cultures—conceptually distinct from the orientation-based distinction between Deep and Casual Rubber, though significant crossover may exist.
Latexistentialism - The philosophy and practice of the Four Pillars. Based on the understanding that existence precedes essence, it frames RubberNauting as an act of self-creation, self-discovery, and becoming who one truly is.
Maslow's Mountain - Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs, used metaphorically in ElderRubber to represent the path to self-actualization. The "mountain to climb" in Pillar III.
Mono Principle, The - The principle that depth comes from focus. A practitioner who tries to embrace every aspect at once may never truly know any of them. The choice to focus on one aspect of rubber fetish as the center of exploration.
Neural nirvana (Silva) - A peak state of consciousness achieved through deep immersion and consciousness design. RubberSpace is the RubberNaut's specific manifestation of this concept.
Quest for the Rubber Grail - A metaphor for the ongoing journey of self-actualization through rubber fetish practice. In Pillar III, it represents the ElderRubber practitioner's continuing quest to become all the Rubberist they can be, even as sexual passion evolves into deeper forms of Enchantment. Rooted in Aristotle's concept of arete (the pursuit of excellence/virtue), the Quest is the RubberNaut's path to their highest potential.
Quality (Pirsig) - The direct, undefinable experience of value that exists beyond conceptual categories. Within the Rubber Temenos, one encounters Quality as the authentic being that emerges through practice.
Rubber Naut - A practitioner of Latexistentialism; one who engages in RubberNauting with intention and mindfulness.
Rubber Nauting - The act of suiting up with intention, not merely as a hobby or pastime, but as a path of self-creation and self-discovery.
RubberSpace - The RubberNaut's Flow state—a peak state of consciousness where the boundaries between self and latex dissolve. Characterized by timelessness, pure presence, sensory unity, and self-revelation.
Rubber Temenos - Borrowed from Greek temenos (a sacred enclosure), this is the space created by latex where the practitioner can retreat from distractions and turn inward. The latex itself is the membrane which separates the sacred from the mundane.
Rubber-sensualization - Seeing the world through latex, where the suit's presence against skin overwhelms the somatic senses and reveals the sacred in the mundane. The perceptual shift that can lead to RubberSpace.
